See the Sky Differently

It all started in 2015, while I was working as a Social Media Manager in the Marketing department at Gloria Hotels & Resorts. Searching for new filming angles, I stumbled upon a YouTube video by an FPV drone pilot named Charpu (Carlos Puertolas) — and the question "how was this filmed?" changed everything.

Watching Mr. Steele (Steele Davis) and Joshua Bardwell on YouTube, I bought my first radio — a FrSky Taranis QX7 — and started on the simulator with LiftOff's Early Access on Steam. The graphics were great, it was a beautiful experience; Steam now tells me I logged 311 hours.

Back then I had to source everything from abroad, and I knew nothing. Reaching FPV drone pilots in Türkiye was nearly impossible. You'd ask a question and the answer would come 1–2 months later — or never. So I decided to research and experience everything myself.

In 2016 VelociDrone came out and I downloaded it immediately. The physics engine was on another level; after LiftOff it caught me completely off guard. At the time I was working from home for Apple, supporting Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland and the UK. Around my 07:00–17:00 shift I trained in VelociDrone — without neglecting my job, of course — for a full year.

In 2017 I got my Fatshark HDO, a RapidFire module and a BetaFPV Meteor75 RTF drone. On my very first real flights I could do everything I had practiced in the simulator! The only thing left to learn was the wind. I had converted the Meteor75 from 1S to 2S; back then it felt like a monster to me — and it taught me a lot.

What excites me most about this craft: every flight is a new challenge. And thanks to FPV I've traveled all over Türkiye and through many countries from Africa to Europe, meeting different people and cultures. The sky is the same everywhere — the perspective never is.
